College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Convocation

December 1, 2007

Dear Graduating Social Science Student:

The Social Science units of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences conduct a Convocation Ceremony where we individually recognize each of our graduates. This special event is held in the Krannert Center, which offers a smaller, more personal atmosphere than the all-campus commencement held in the Assembly Hall. It is a joyful occasion which parents, in particular, appreciate. This year the convocation is being held in your honor. It will be in the Great Hall of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 South Goodwin, Urbana, Illinois, on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 4:00 p.m.

Before the Ceremony

Register for the ceremony via the web December 1, 2007, through April 18, 2008. Go to Register for the Social Science Convocation. Every person in your family, except you, starting from age 0 will need a ticket. You will need to register for your cap and gown here too. Academic dress (cap and gown) are required. At the end of registration, you will receive a conformation number. KEEP THAT NUMBER. You need it to pick up your tickets. If you have trouble registering for the Social Science Ceremony, please contact your Department Representative.

Graduation Day

Each graduate will be recognized by name and will be presented a diploma cover. There will be no charge for the cover. Students graduating with honors will be recognized individually. There should be adequate seating for most, if not all, of your guests. As noted above, you will receive further information during sign-up.

You will receive proofs from the ceremony taken by Graduation Photo via email approximately 5-7 days after the ceremony.

During the Ceremony

Each graduate will be called by name and presented a diploma cover. Students graduating with honors will receive additional recognition.

If you have any questions please contact your department representative.

Sincerely,

The Social Science Convocation Committee
